Amazing way to start the day at Pico do Arieiro to watch a beautiful sunrise, followed by a great trek to Pico Ruivo! Claudio is so knowledgeable and experienced and we felt completely safe in his hands! This is a must do for your Madeira bucket list! Can’t wait to do it again!
Great guy, superb guide

Claudio is not only a really great guy but also an extremely proficient guide. He could not have been more helpful, adapting walks to suit our poor old knees !!!
If you want to see the authentic side of Madeira , Claudio is your man!
Claudia, you made a great visit to Madeira unforgettable. Can’t thank you enough

Cláudio took us up to see the amazing sunrise at Pico Do Arieiro on the morning of my 60th birthday - a truly memorable experience! We had already decided that the PR1 walk would be too challenging for our old knees but we did do several other walks with Cláudio during our week in Madeira including the PR8 walk (at sunrise) and the Vereda da 25 fontes (which has a wild swimming option for the brave!)
Cláudio clearly loves Madeira and takes real pleasure in introducing his clients to its landscape & culture. He was very careful to match the walks to the abilities of the group and always well prepared for changing weather conditions (producing extra layers or headtorches when required) As we walked and talked we also learned about the history and culture of the island and its people. But he went well beyond our expectations of a mountain guide with his insights into the natural history and geology of the land around us; his friendliness; and the thoughtful extra touches he delighted us with. At the end of one Levada walk Cláudio suddenly produced some birdseed so we could have the little finches feeding from out of our hands! If you are looking for a truly special experience that helps you get closer to the true essence of Madeira and the spirit of its people, Cláudio is the guide for you!
Excellent guide, shame about the weather!

My partner and I booked this sunrise hike with Claudio in December. Sadly on the day, the visibility was too poor to see the sunrise, and the weather at that altitude was fairly bad so we decided to save Pico do Arieiro for another day. However, Claudio took us for a different hike, a beautiful (if very wet!) levada walk. He was excellent company and a great guide, giving us lots of extra information about the plants and wildlife, the history of Madeira, and even sent us recommendations for food and attractions for the rest of our holiday. He was also very well prepared, with rain ponchos to shield us from the waterfalls and spare head torches for the tunnels.

Wouldn't hesitate to book with Claudio again, thank you for a lovely day out!
Not a gentle hike but amazing views and Claudio provided so much more than a lift at either end.

This was by far the best and most memorable day we had on Madeira. The views are simply breathtaking.. but beware so are some of the steep bits!
Local man, Claudio was a fabulous guide, charming and knowledgeable and I suspect the whole trail was safer for his knowledge and experience being there, though he ran the ‘small group’ tour just for the two of us this day.
We were both definitely not ‘hill fit’ (and afraid of heights) but after some research, we’re determined to do this walk and we didn’t regret it.
Claudio made us feel safe and distracted us from the toughest bits with loads of information on the flora and fauna and geology we were looking at, aswell as the history of the trail.
