Great Half-Day Tour With Richard
Patricia_C, 02-04-2022
Richard promptly met us at the cruise terminal. We enjoyed the combination of a walking/driving tour of Funchal and Camara de Lobos, stopping for a Poncha and Nikita at a local establishment. We would recommend Richard without hesitation.
Comprehensive tour of scenic and historic sites

I thoroughly enjoyed Richard and the half day private tour. He was highly informative, very factual and entertaining. I was treated to fantastic viewpoints, aqueducts and an
ancient bridge. We visited a lovely coastal fishing village, local church and restaurants offering their historic drinks!
I would highly recommend Pearl of the Atlantic for a memorable tour of Madeira!
Excellent visit outside Funchal

Marco was a very knowledgeable guide. He was able to provide so much history about the island of Madeira. I liked that the tour took me out of Funchal and to parts of Madeira where I never would have ventured out on my own. Once the tour ended, he offered to extend the tour and visit yet another site. Another plus, he recommended an excellent restaurant in Old Town Funchal which was amazing.
Outstanding service from really great people.

We initially booked an island tour of the South West. I spoke to Richard on the phone who was excellent at arranging and then suggesting an itinerary that would suit us as we had 3 people over 80 in our group. Marco was our guide and was superb tailoring the tour as we went through. We ended up extending the tour as we had such excellent service and Marco had great knowledge of the area.
We then booked both the garden tour and also a hike with the same group and each time was excellent. Thank you to Marco and Richard - they really made our holiday.
Our guide/driver, Richard, made our tour special
ECraigMcKay, 18-11-2018
From start to finish, Richard provided an excellent tour. We were picked up promptly at the port when we arrived on NCL Epic and Richard discussed our desires and needs in detail while working with us to tailor a seven hour custom tour of Funchal, the south coast, and the back roads and spectacular north west. He was informed and detailed in his description of sites and willing and able to engage our questions and provide information regarding many aspects of the history and cultural aspects of life on the main island of these dramatic islands off the western coast of Portugal.
We had Richard drop us off at the lower end of the cable car and he was waiting at the top to escort us to the hill top from which the famous wooden sleds carried us in two-person, two-driver sleds down the steep curving streets to a point where Richard was waiting with the tour van to carry us from Funchal on a back roads experience toward Ribera Brava and on through the mountainous valleys of Serra de Agua and on to Sao Vincente and Porto Muniz with stops along the way to visit the Varrey of the Nuns and a number of Miramar outlooks along the north west coast.
We were well cared for along the way and Richard was a knowledgeable and gracious tour guide. We highly recommend Richard and Pearl of the Atlantic tours.
